Ritchy
Interview
Handle: Ritchy Group: Analog, Spider, Paranoimia, Alliance Design, ... Date of birth: july the 8th, 1972 In 1980 I think, my grand father (Jean Guyon) had a Tandy TRS-80 computer. He coded "live" a program for me that asked your date of birth and calculated your age. It was amazing ! I was 8 and this day I knew that I wanted to program computers ! First I had Sinclair ZX-81. I coded (in basic) some text-animations, scrollings, and "graphical" stupid things. The Zx-81 had no sound but I made a piano program that generates sounds when you press its keys ! (you had to increase your TV at full volume to hear the sounds). You can contact me if you want to know the explanation ;-) Of course I played with this computer, too. Then I had an Amstrad PC1512 computer. I always coded in basic, but tried other languages like Prolog. I made some little games. When I had my Amiga 500, I tried graphics (Deluxe Paint), Music (soundtracker) and assembler (Seka). So I started some little demos alone, then reached some little groups, ... Later I had a A1200, and a PC. But the funnyiest computer was the A500. I made musics AND coded. But I was "known" as a coder. I tried all the Soundtracker versions (startrekker, protracker...). It's so easy to compose with it ! I used midi software on my PC (Midisoft Studio) but it's not very fun. none. I love some of them, but it's more an experimental music that "good music". no, I love my first bad tunes. I can see the evolution of my style. It's as important as the design, the code, the graphics, and the animation. No more, no less. It has to be adapted to the situation. Not very often, only for my pleasure. I'm very happy to have all my CDs into my computer (Mp3), I can hear all of them in random mode. But I buy all the musical CD I love ;-) The musics from Gladiator in the IT Megademo. I was really impressed. Some old tunes like Dear Rob, Axel F, Echoing, Heavy but cool, The Last Star, v42... Living in a dream (Jogeir), Golden Years (Moby), Epsonic (Nhp&Bkh), Ba1 (Red Sector), Music of the demo DOPE, Klisje paa klije (Walkman), Whistling Fred (Mel o'dee/Shadows), China (Phenomena), Most to vocal (Maniacs of noise), Hideaway blues (Chorus and Sid), Nebulos (Audiomonster)... no, now I'm a coder in a French video game company. The Band ?! Lot of fun !!! No (maybe a revival one day ?) free to write something in my book on my website. Sorry for my English, I'm French ;-) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2002 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
