That dropped my attention to follow pixels moving on a screen. The first real computer i saw at a friends' family (don't remember the model or brand anymore), they played some ugly games on it that i didn't understand at all. But i remember that i was pretty fascinated that they hacked something on a keyboard and the computer corresponded to that (it loaded a program:). In 1985 my parents bought their C64 and guess who used it most of the time :) A C64 was my first own computer. Must have been around 1985 when i got it. I used it for playing games, writing stupid basic programs, tried to make some graphics and jerked around with various intromakers. Finally, i tried to use Sidmon etc but i wasn't successful with them (too much hex :), had more luck with Alphadrummer. I sold my C64 for an Amiga 500 in the very late 80's and spent a lot of time with games before i finally watched TRSI's Megademo. That made me want to use the computer a more creative way than just playing Turrican. A few weeks later i got ST-00 to ST-10 and a whole lot of modules. I became a demo and tracker addict. Next up was an A1200 (still with me). Most remarkable thing during that time was my first sampler, a Technosound Turbo. Ah, and of course joining the internet, making new friends and releasing my first modules at Phase Distortion. In 95 i got my first PC, a pentium 90 that wasn't working at all. I hardly never used it until i noticed Fasttracker II on Symposium 96. That definitely kicked my ass. From that time on i had a PII, a Celeron, an Athlon and now a P4 (Mobile). As long as i can remember i loved to listen to music. It was just a matter of time until i started to make music. Apart from that i tried to code, but until today i'm not able to write more than HTML. And i still do gfx, now and then. Noisetracker, Protracker, Fasttracker II, Logic Audio and Buzztracker. Buzz is my first choice since 3 years. I partly use Logic for scoring Music for our Intros. Hm. 1 Million Miles (from Alto Knallo/FEB, 1st place Democompo at TP'96) is pretty remembered by many people, i still receive mails for it. But in fact, i never reached any goal yet because i didn't set one. No. A music that fits can intensify the experience of a demo or game. On the other hand the best demo doesn't work if the music sucks. It's as essential as the visual presentation, sometimes maybe even more. Music in games is mostly more in the background beeing payed way less attention. I never stopped making music. Recently i'm active in the demoscene, on netlabels and "usual" labels and sometimes for my job. Who cares about formats if the result is worth beeing listened? My alltime tracking top 5: a. mod.synergy by bit arts, soundtrack from turmoil/sanity. It's the best module i have ever heard and remembers me of the title music used in the trailer for a german documentary series called "Abenteuer Forschung". b. mod.melonmania by audiomonster, used in sos by melon (?). It's a miracle to me. c. clone it.xm by hunz, brilliant in every way. d. Music from Turrican 2. Maybe the best game soundtrack ever made. e. Cosmic Outflow.xm by Falcon - it rules. Not yet, but who knows :) Uf, i listen to a lot of different styles. The list of artists i've recently been listening to is endless but amongst were Saafi Brothers, various releases from the technolabel Kanzleramt, Elektrolux releases... An awesome (sub)culture which is great beeing a part of. Yes, of course. Yoda, KB and i founded farb-rausch back in 2000 and it's still a big role in my life although my reallife recently doesn't let me spend as much time on it as it'd deserve. My son Luke, my girlfriend Nora, my parents & the family, everybody at farb-rausch, _rohformat & thinner, the #kotraum, #buzz, #phatbuzz, #k-v-r, #trax & #amigascene possees, pouet, scene.org and everybody i forgot. Don't steal work of others. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2003 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
