  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • My interest for computers began with the Apple ][. I inherited one from my
late-but-great grandfather in the mid-eighties and learned to write very
simplistic programs throughout grade school. (I think this would be 1986.)

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • Apple ][+ Donated to a family friend
Apple ][gs Not sure, in a box somewhere
    TI-99/4A In my garage :)
    486SLC2/50 Donated to a sibling
    P2-333 Parental use
P2-450 In pieces somewhere in the US...?
My current: Athlon XP 2100, 512MB PC2700, 120GB IDE HD, Sound Bastard 16 PCI
    :)

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Because as a visual artist, I was sorely lacking. As a coder, well, I was
sorely lacking, too. :) I never progressed beyond very simple ML routines
    and beginner 6502 assembler.

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • Scream Tracker 3.20+, Fasttracker 2.06+, Impulse Tracker 2.11+, Renoise
    1.20+, Reason 1 and 2, Cakewalk SONAR 2 XL, Velvet Studio 1.2

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • Phases of Identity. Definitely my best module.

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • Basically everything from 1996-1998 because it sucks. <:)

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • Highly valuable, of course! Tension, dynamics, atmosphere... it's all there
in sound. Most of a presentation's emotional provocation comes from the
    audio.

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • I definitely am. I still track sometimes, too. <:) I release regularly
alongside Hunz, Xerxes, Sorcen (Necros/FM), virt, mv, Solo, Chimera,
Funkymuskrat (Stalker/FM), HomesickAlien, and Tao in hellven.

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • MPEG compression rules! Tons! I think modules certainly have their place,
but their heyday is long gone and the convenience of MP3 reigns over the
semi-convenience of modular music. I don't know what is being asked about
MIDI, but MIDI sequences are certainly essential for their purposes!--Wave?
Redbook, XA, whatever, recorded music is definitely The Way anymore to get
exactly the sound you want into a game. (Or demo, sure.)

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Favorite mods? Hm. Martian Lovesong (Necros), Clone It! and Volume (Hunz),
The Water God (mv), rz_ttt (esem), Klatu Verata (paniq), lots of Basehead
(especially Gotham Nights), and virt's Contra arrangement mod. There are
countless mods that are simply amazing...

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • I am burning (by hand) copies of my anthology for anyone interested. I
    don't charge much, 10 USD for US/Canada and 13 USD for Europe/overseas.
Haven't had many takers, but I also haven't tried very hard to "sell" it. :)
I do intend to offer up CD releases as time progresses of new stuff, but the
anthology takes care of my old stuff. Time to move on.

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • Tipper, Evanescence (haha), U2, Remy Zero, Gridlock, epoq, Funkstörung,
Autechre, Panacea, Tarmvred, Ram Trilogy, Ed Rush & Optical, Jonny L, A
Perfect Circle, Air, Supreme Beings of Leisure... too many to list, really.

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Sadly, nothing but what was handed down to us on the PC. I was not involved
with the Amiga/C64 scene at all.

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • Somewhat. hellven is considered a scene group...

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • Hi! hellven. My friends. Whatever. Peace out, y0e.
