    Handle: Scat (now: AR-S)

    Group: Apocalypse Bay

    Date of birth: Nov 1975

  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?
  • I was very young when I got attracted to video games. I had a tiny rotating
game that had one color [red] and I was playing with it as a maniac.

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • Amstrad cpc 464: games, coding Basic

Atari 520 ste Great 16 bits: Games, Gfx (lightwave), Music.

Amiga 500 then 1200: Games, Gfx and Music with protracker

PC Athlon Xp 1800: Games, Gfx 2D 3D Flash Video, Music: Sound Forge...

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Nowadays I am doing more graphics than music on pc. It's up to the tool as
on amiga I composed more than I ddd graphics. At that time it was easy to
compose and the result was quite impressive.

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • Amiga: Protracker for composing
    Technosound Turbo 2 for sampling

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • None! not enough ram memory to create a masterpiece :))

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • No!

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • Music and sound effects have a key role in a game. Try playing R-Type on
the amiga with the sound switched off and you will most probably get bored.

How about the nice synth saxo in the opening of "Maupiti Island"

Music creates emotions that pictures or code alone would not achieve.
You are more attracted when a game calls both senses rather than just one.

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • I have been a member of two music groups:

NON CONFORM' : Rock reggae fr
TEKATAK : Funky Reggae fr (dead now)

Nowadays I am starting from zero.

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • Mp3 is exceptional, Midi makes it possible to create a lot of thing with
files that don't take too much hd space (a bit like modules)

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • humm.. let me think...

    - The Wall Pink Floyd

    - Bob Marley

    - Alpha blondy : "Jerusalem"

    - Stand by me (platters), Still loving u (scorpion)

    - Child in Time (Deep purple)

    - Starway to Heaven (Led Zep)

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • Not at the moment.

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • - Midnite
    - Raspigaous
    - Massilia Sound System

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Fun !

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • Not really, i have a video project but still secret

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • GreEts : VrS, AnK, Dom's, Ioo, Krob..
    Regards : Moby (El Mobo:)
    Love u : Nina Dema
