Perspex, Unlimited, Maniacs) Date of birth: 1978-06-17 I think it was 1987 or 1988 when I got my first computer, an Amiga 500. An Amiga500 on which I only played games and fooled around in Workbench with in the beginning. Eventually I started learning more about the basics of the Amiga OS, so I started compiling my own "pack disks" etc. After some years I sold my old a500 and upgraded to an a1200 on which I started composing music. I also swapped stuff with people from all around the globe, or at least all around europe. When the modems entered the scene I set up a BBS called "House of Kicks" on a gigantic 120 (or was it 180) mb harddrive. Finally when the scene started (in my opinion) to suck I sold my amiga and bought a pc. I've always been interested in music, and since I'm playing the guitar myself, and used to play the piano, I enjoyed composing on my amiga. I started using OctaMED and made most of my song with that program. However, I also used ProTracker for some of my tunes. Hmm hard to say. I didn't spend that much time on any of them, I never had the intention to make a really great and serious tune. I kinda like my "Popcorn" cover, and also the tune "Happy dance" is pretty funny, bot not good. Lots of them. Simply because they suck... It is really important, especially in a demo. Even if the rest of the demo sucks, it might be worth watching if the music is good. I don't play much games so I don'r really have an opinion there. I'm not composing nowdays. I still play the guitar though. I pretty much only listen to mp3 music, and haven't tried wave, midi etc. very much. MP3 is fun, midi, wave might be it too, but to me it isn't as fun as, and does not have the same feeling as, the module format on the amigas. I liked Jesper Kyd's "Global Trash", and I also enjoyed most of the tunes made by Moby and Jester of Sanity, especially those blues/rock songs by moby. No. Nick Cave, The Doors, and lots of other music too. I had a nice time, made some more or less good friends there all over the world. But I actually think the BBS'es were the beginning of the end for the amiga scene. Nope. Curt Cool of course! I now remember we used to swap! Vital, whatever he's doing nowdays? Wraith, DeeJay jones and the rest! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2001 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
