  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • I was always interested in electronics, gadgets, technology and programming. The father of a school mate was a programming teacher and so it came, that he gave me a first course on a Sharp programmable calculator which I found really cool. They could also do sound and with some assembler (peeks and pokes) you could even get them to even do sounds. Although never anywhere close to an Amiga. But I did not know that then...

This all started in the year 1984/85

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • I bought my first Amiga 500 as soon as I had saved enough for that piece. Before, I would spend a lot of time with my friend's C64. When I did not compose on the A500, I used to program in Assembler. One of the goals was to program my own tracker. But then arrived Protracker and I was sold to it. This is my favorite tracker. I remember having also coded a demo with four singing heads. Was pretty cool, but I don't have that code anymore, darn it!
After the A500, I bought an A4000. I have no idea anymore, when I sold that. Every once and then the nostalgy catches me and I have to surf the Internet to at least dream of that beautiful machine and its scene all around the globe.

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • I am a huge fan of music. Guess because my father is a singer. But I also love coding. Career wise I persued the coding line and studied CS. But my hobby remaind composing whenever there is time left. Now, I've got a mac with Logic and some gears. A totally different composing experience of course. But it is a real fun challenge to get a good sound with the 4/8 channels of an Amiga and its 8Bit resolution.

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • I have used all sorts of composing programs. Basically anything, which was available I had to try at least once. But I remember most the Protracker.

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • None of them, I am still working on reaching my goal. I do like 'Alternate' and the beginning of 'Dream Mode' though. The beginning of 'Lets do it slow' inspires me also every time I listen to it.

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • No. Any of them makes me smile if I listen to them now. Each one has its memories/struggles.

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • A demo/game without Music is most probably boring. Music without a demo/game not though...

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • I am only composing for leisure purposes. But being in New York, I should make use of this great city and its musical potential...

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • midi is out and ugly anyway. Mpeg is good for everything that's not classic. Wave is good for quality and bad for disc space. In general, I like Mpeg because it allows again to share music over the Internet but with acceptable quality and short download times.

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • That's a little too long ago. I think, I never had an all time favourite though.

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • I am working on a couple of old mod songs, which I want to bring into the modern tools to fu

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • I mostly listen to Trip Hop like bands like Moby, Massive Attack, De-Phazz, Mind Fluid etc.

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Lots of beautiful memories.

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • No.

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • Dr. Awesome. He does not know it, but he always was my idol at those times. I wouldn't mind at all to meet him once in person.
