My first computer, as stated above, was a C64 on which I was playing games like almost everyone did... :-) Later, I made my first steps in composing music on it. In 1990, I turned over to an Amiga 500 - which was exchanged by an Amiga 1200 in 1993. Then in 2000, I finally turned my back to the Amiga and switched over to the PC. Well, making GFX has not been my personal taste for a long time - I just didn't have the patience to set pixel by pixel, smile... Today, using several programs, I make GFX, too. When it comes to coding: it has always fascinated me, yes - but it's not my best skill... So that's the reason why I finally ended up in making music! :-) Like many many other musicians, I started with the "Soundmonitor" by Chris Huelsbeck on the C64. But I've also tried some other software on that machine like "Romuzak" by Digital Marketing. On the Amiga, it has been the wonderful "ProTracker", of course! :-) I also tried some other software there, like "TFMX" or "Octamed" - but I always went back to the best music editor ever made on the Amiga: "Protracker"... *smile* Definitely, it's "Eternity II - Deep In Your Eyes"... 15 minutes of music that came deep from my heart that time. But I also still like "The Gate - Main Tune" from the same-named Artwork production and finally "Judgement Day", which has won the Cebit 94 music competition... Yes, the worst module I ever made was my first one: "Spacewalk"... Can't say why, I just never liked it really... Music brings life to a demo, so it's the most important thing in my opinion! Yes, I'm still active indeed - actually working on a soundtrack for a great story that has been written by a female friend of mine and which will be available on CD, too. But I also still make music for my personal pleasure, of course... Finally, I'm also a singer. Well, I don't like midi music (in itself) very much because it always sounds different on different equipment - and therefore never the same it has originally been composed. On the other hand, midi and waves are the essentials when it comes to make music on PC... When it comes to MP3, it's actually the most used format and so noone would like to miss it! :-) Some tunes I remember which I liked very much on the Amiga were: "Overload" (Mantronix & Tip) "Full Moon Endpart" (Jogeir Liljedahl) "Fruit Kitchen" (Scortia) On the C64, my all time favourtites are: "Zamzara" (Charles Deenen) - the best tune ever composed in my opinion!!! "Spellbound" (Rob Hubbard) "Robocop 3" (Jeroen Tel) Yes, I'm already working on some remixes! Depeche Mode, Jean-Michael Jarre, Vangelis, Wolfsheim, Girls Under Glass, The Twarres and many many more... One of the greatest time in my life! Sometimes... Yes, some very special greetings flying out to: Chiara & Nachtfalke. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2003 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
