Something around 1985. My first computer was a Commodore 64. I used to make demos on it, which I programmed myself. Later we made our own music editor/routine, and created our own tunes. After that we bought a Commodore Amiga, and created a music editor/routine also. For the demos we started making our own music. Later, friends of us asked to make music for their games, and so we started making music. We started with the soundmonitor from chris huelsbeck. Later we used our own program called soundmaster. It had some better effects algorythms, so that we could copy the sounds from Rob Hubbard better. There was never any real goal in making music, so if it sounded nice, I was happy ;-) No, of course not. Of course we made some worse tunes, but I would be the last person to feel sorry about that. In the days of the commodore 64, I thougt music was very important for a game. Because graphics weren't that great in those days, music was very important to create a certain atmosphere. A demo without music, I'd throw in the thrascan ;-). I liked making demo's in the past, music was to me the most important part of the demo. I am sometimes still composing a bit for fun. The past few years I focused a lot on synthesizer music (you can find some of it on my website, soedesoft.com, if I get it running again). Recently I am busy with learning how to play the bassguitar. If you mean current computer game music: I don't really play any games anymore, or listen to the game music. I do like mp3, just because it's a nice way to spread (or copy) music. For the commodore 64, this would be the delta intro tune, or the commando tune. If I'd ever find the time, I would. If I would make it, I would totally recompose it, using modern synths etc, and not use the old sid sound. I like listening to Live, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and Anouk (a dutch band). I think it's great that some guys still keep the good old days alive. It's very funny that there folks who still remember SoedeSoft! I think even more people know about us now than in the past. Not a lot, no. But occasionally I reply to mails, like this one, to give an interview. Greetings to Fire-Eagle, as I always used to do in the past. Just take care that in the next millennium (3000) people still now what a commodore 64/Amiga was! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2001 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
