There were some TO7 and VIC20 in school. I was interested in programming My very first computer was a C64, I made some code and one Future Composer tune with it. Then a friend showed me Noisetracker2.0 on his Amiga, so I considered buying one. I spent hours on Noisetracker and Protracker. I also coded some stuff on Amiga, but nothing really good. Well because I've always played music (piano, bass guitar) and I've always felt as a musician In particular? Protracker for sure. But I've tried Audio Sculpture, Noisetracker, Rebirth, Future Composer, FT2, Cubase VST, Fruity Loops, etc... My goal is still ahead! None of them. Of course I made a lot of bad tunes, but they were necessary because making mistakes is the best way to learn. I'm a video game programer, and I'm lucky because Moby (try www.elmobo.com !) makes the musics of the games I'm working on. The music can make the difference, it brings the atmosphere. I'm still composing for fun. There's a lot of tools to make music nowdays, and everybody can compose tunes and it's OK. But guys please : be musicians, not technicians. Forget about the tools options and all the buttons you can turn, think about the melody, think about the harmony, think about the rythm. All the effects can come after. So hard to tell.... Klisje paa Klisje (The hunt for the red october) By Walkman Space Deliria By Dr Awesome Nebulos By Audiomonster The 3 musics of Arte By Moby alias El Mobo and so many others.......... Why not, but not for sale. I'm planning to make an audio CD but only with brand new tunes. I love: - Jazz/Free Jazz/Fusion (John Coltrane, Uzeb, Marcus Miller, etc..) - 20th century classics (Debussy, Satie, etc...) - 70' Experimental music (Pink Floyd, Sweet smoke...) - Funk (James Brown, Tower of power...) - Ethnic/Blues/techno mixes (Propellar Heads, Leftfield, Banco de Gaia) Soooo many things!. I started on the Atari ST scene as a musician for MCS, the code was the most important thing in a demo. On the Amiga, the graphics and the music were as important as the code (sometimes more, remember Melon Design?). Maybe it helped me to find a job, because a lot of ex demomakers work in the video game industry, and you often meet people you had already met in demo-parties when you go asking for a job. No, I sometimes compose a demo music just for fun but I have no group. I also sometimes code some Fx for a software called Aestesis (www.aestesis.org). Don't hesitate to write to me! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2001 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
