I Think, I was about 12, thats about 17 years ago, When i got my first computer. It was a 64 (ofcourse) My father gave it to me because he wanted me to be a clever programmer (I think) but my interest, was mostly music, and graphix, and, ofcourse play tons off cool games :-) (at that time it was heaven for a 12 year old boy!) 1: C64 (music, Gfx, games) Sold! (i regret today:( 2: Amiga 500 (music, Gfx) 3: another Amiga (still 500) (music, Gfx) 4: and then again an Amiga 500 (music, Gfx) 5: Pc pentium 133 (music, mostly) 6: Pc K6 300 (music, internet, etc. you name it) and thats were I am today, running nice and quit with stedy 300 mzh :-) I guess that was the thing that interested me most. Soundtracker in all shapes, and now mostly Q-base, logicaudio, Soundforge, acidforge, and lots of funny small prgs. like stomper, fruityloops etc. im afraid that I haven't reach my goal yet so its hard to say. "Hardcore", because, there wasen't much techno on the amiga scene at that time, and i think it was a new kind of sound (at that time) that wasen't very know, even in the normal music scene. And because I won 2'nd place at "The Party" in, I think it was in 1994. So i was very proud :-) I think in means alot, but I won't say how many procent (I don't wanna upset all the coders or gfxians :-) But the music in demo is one thing, music in a game another. In my opinion a good demo is more like a music video, that means that the mood, rythem, gfx, cooding, music should work together and meet in a higherlevel than if the music, gfx, coding, was standing alone, so you get a complet experince when you wacth it. sometime you see demos were the Gfx,coding, music are working against each other, because that the people that made it didn't talk together. and thats a shame. I think a game is more like a movie (now a days) that means that the music should support the game more than in a demo (you're more set when you make music to a game than in a demo) or you could say listen more to the game than in a demo. Yes, actually. I made some tunes on a litle more complex gear, than the 64 and Amiga (midi with lots of nice old analogsynth) and I got a record contract with a small company in copenhagen, under the name "AV8" or "Aviate" but the contract crashed because they were to fucked up (parten my french). But it a long story. So I have some unrealesed stuff know but, its almost 5 years old, so its kind of to old to release now (I think) But im working on some new stuff know, (been to buzy editing: comercials, music videos, television, and movies, thats what im earning my living on now. But hopefully I get a record out some day. I think that the music scene now are very interesting because people a much more open to experiments and weird sounds than just for 5-7 years ago. (And i love that:-) About the technology, like mp3 is fantastic. Some people are afraid that it will destroy the music industry, because of illegal copying but I dont think so, I think it will open up for alot of talented people that has another wiev on music than the normal "michael Jackson buisnessman" style. And thats good, i think. And I must admit that I dont care if mikael J. or George mikael, earns 10.000 mill. pounds in 1 year instead of 100.000. i dont feel sorry for them. because If people like to make music its not about money, (offcourse you should be able to earn your living thrue it) but I think that people that like making music will still do even though they dont earn millions. If you mean Amiga, and c64 its along time ago, but I'll try to remember. but I cant remember the name of the tunes sorry. But walkmann was great, Rob Hubbard, Fred, Heatbeat, Chris Huelsbeck, jeper Kyd, (even though will always competet:-), and lots, lots off people that I cant remember right now. Hmmm... actually I though about that. but its sometimes very hard to go back to some old stuff if you feel like your in another place in style right now. but yes i thought about it, because I have lots of unfinish funny stuff especialy on the amiga. and I could be fun making a Cd with rough 8 bit sounds, mixed with new keyboads and beats. hmmm.....Yeah maybe.... puhhh.... Its along list, lots off diferent styles. But, Moby, Fat boy S., The Orb, William Orbit, Kruder Dorfmeister, Air, Chemi boys, Sneaker pimps, Hooverphonic, Beastie boys, Propellerheads, Antiloop, Morcheba, Garbage, The Doors, Faithless, Future sound of london, Leftfeild, Everything but the girl, Dj sneak, Orbital... In away It started my carrer as an editor, because, it has the same elements of timing, creative thinking, style, and teamwork, and because I met mikael Balle thrugh working with demos, and he kind of got me started working with musicvideos, tv, etc. Not on the demo scene, no, to buzy, but maybe some day i'll make a tune for a demo for fun :-) Mikael Balle, Xod, David "The Spy" GuldBrandsen, And all the boys At IO interactive, Former (Zyrinx) ((Crionics)), Mads, Moses team, Pacman, Vandal, Zike, Bozo, Conqueror, Havok, Walkman, The orb, Fat boy S., Jesper Kyd, Paleface, and last but not laest: William Orbit, And remember "Techno rules" qote from "The party 1994" ;-) have fun ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2001 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
