  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • Around 1984 with a C64.

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • C64 for gaming and Basic programming. Interest in Music started with an Amiga
500, later moved to a 1200 model with a hard disk (20 megs if I remember
    correctly).

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • I've never been much of a programmer and short of some stuff in C64 Basic
there's not much to show for. Also I couldn't paint a smiley if I had to. I
loved listening to music though , especially to early house and old school
hiphop tunes. Analysing beats and basslines somehow became a second nature.
As soon as I got my hands on Protracker I was hooked.

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • Protracker and FastTracker, later Screamtracker which introduced fabulous
multi-channel capability. ImpulseTracker, finally, was the ultimate thing.

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • Certainly never reached that point, though DubBells, Atomic Playboy and
CrossX came pretty close to what I wanted to achieve in different styles.

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • I made a remix of a Capella tune which consisted basically of 2 CD samples
with a new beat underneath it. Though it sounded OK I always thought this is
not what 'real' tracking is about.

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • Play Turrican II on Amiga and you'll understand...

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • Not any more. Still not ruling out to take it up again at some point in the
    future.

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • Wave and Midi are way more sophisticated, but nothing still beats the ease of
use combined with the complete control over a piece that trackers offer a
    composer.

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Definitely the Turrican II title theme and ingame sounds by Chris Hülsbeck.
But not to forget Ron Hubbard's Crazy Comets tune on C64 (there are some great
remixes out there by the way!)

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • I did in a home studio and the result's quite pleasing.

  • 12-What bands are you currently listening to?

  • Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers, St. Germain, Thievery Corporation to name a few
that impressed recently. Bomfunk MC's, Eminem and Fatboy Slim have done a good
job bringing old school into the 21st century.

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Probably a lifelong addiction...

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • No, though I try to catch up with developments once in a while.

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • I wonder whether anyone will read this particular interview, but if you still
    did, I'm honoured.
