  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • My interest for computers started out with games I guess.
Remember trying Last Ninja on my friends C64, and I was hooked.
The thing that impressed me the most about this game was the music.
After that I was hooked on computer generated music. I think that
was back in 87!?? Man, I'm getting old.............

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • First I had a C64, then an A500, then another A500 then a PC, then
    a A1200 and now back with a PC again. Hmmmm.......still have 4 C64/128
machines. Sold my A500 machines, and the A1200 went BOOOOM!!!

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Hmmmmm.....Well, a couple of my friends started a group called
Cyborgs, and they had a couple of coders and a couple of gfx
artists. And I really didn't have the patience to draw. And since I
    L O V E D music composed on the C64 and A500, the choice wasnt hard.

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • Always used the latest eidtions of Pro'Tracker. Exactly what version
I can't remember, since its 6-7 years since I quit the scene.
    Just made a humble return u know=)

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • Never felt I reached my goal! I never as an amazing musician, but
I had fun with what I did. Made some chip tunes for my pack
(Nam Nam) under the Scoopex label. Think I made a couple with
Laxical too. But my main job in Scoopex was swapping.

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • My first one! LOL It was really soooooooooooooooooo bad, I can't
even explain. Just a lot of strings that wasnt even connected in
any way! and some out of place drums................ Guess that
    explains a LOT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • Well, for me music can be EVERYTHING in both demo and game!
As an example for a demo, lets use Kefrens/Desert Dreams.
I remember sitting at The Gathering '92 (or was it '93?)
tired like hell (54 hours without sleep) and saw all those
yawn sleeeepy demos. Then Desert Dreams started with a mellow
tune, then BOOOOM!!! the music really kicked in, and some
(at the time) amazing effects. But for me the music made the demo.
Chills down my spine, even today! Remove the music from the demo,
    and u get the idea!!

In games it's also very important, in the sense that it's there
to create an athmosphere or mood, or that it changes according
to whats going on in the game. Shenmue 1+2 from Sega-AM2/Sega and
Final Fantasy 7/Squaresoft are good examples. The death scene in
FF7 becomes incredible, just because of the music. I guess most
people that played threw this game felt really sad when the main
girl in the game got killed. And a lot of this emotion comes out
because of the use of music.

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • I havent composed for 6 years. But I have got some inspiration back
lately, so I might start up again. But I understand that the scene is
almost dead, so I guess it will be for leisure. Have other responsabilities
too now that I didnt have before=)

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • Many of the pieces of music I have heard lately from scene ppl, and no
offence, I think just isn't of the same quality as it used to be.
Sure, many tunes sounds great with high quality samples, but they
lack soul. Hard to explain, but tunes rarely gets stuck in my head
these days. The golden oldies are in my opinion better. This also goes
for most game music. But I guess I'm also a BIT nostalgic=)

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • I have a hard time for remembering tunes, but I would like to
give BIG credit's for the following scene musicians, whose
music I really love and respect:
Mantronix, Tip, Firefox, Jesper, Jester, Julius, Romeo Knight, Laxical,
Jazz, Laxity, Nuke, 16-Beat, Bit Arts, Jogeir Liljedahl, Virgill,
Greg, Mel o'Dee, all of Maniacs of Noise (past and present),
Mad Freak, Emax, Firefox and Hi Lite.

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • NO!!

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • Linkin Park, Avril and Eminem. I mainly listen to
    instrumental, techno and r&b.

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Most importantly It gave me a lot of friends (had about 200 contacts as a member of
Scoopex). And several of them I really considered FRIENDS! Have been
LUCKY enough to get in touch with some of them again lately.
It also gave me huge stamp bills!=) Naah, I had a lot of fun composing
to, and getting response from other musicians who was better then me.
You really learn a lot if you are willing to listen to those more
skilled then you! And last but not least I have got a LOT of good
    memories.

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • No, havent been active for atleast 6 years. But I have been thinking
about returning lately. I would like to set up a diskmag. Used to
do freelancer work before for several mags. Scoopex had Seenpoint,
but at the time I had ofcourse left the scene.=\

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • Yes I would like to greet you Crown, and all my other old friends
out there like: Karpow, Elmore, Laxical, Vegard, Mr.King, Anibyte,
Absurd(all past and present Scoopex members) and I would like to
greet all my past friends in the following groups (that is those
I remember) in no specific order: Abyss, Balance, Kefrens,
Polka Brothers, Melon., Sanity, Trsi, Silents, Angels, Damones,
Decnite, Interactive, Impulse, Cyborgs, Stone Arts, Noiseless,
Alcatraz, Spaceballs, PMC, Anarchy, Razor 1911, Fairlight,
Virtual Dreams, SoniK, S!P, DC-Shining and greets to all those
persons and groups that I forgot. You know who you are!!
I'm sure a lot of these groups arent even around anymore.=/

Special greetings to all SCOOPEX members!!
