I was at the time fascinated at the different sounding, kinda metallic alike early synthchips. However it was first when i got hold of an AY chip to my ZX Spectrum in '84 it became obvious that the computer as a instrument had until then unseen posibilities. From then on a lot of years went by with consuming and learning the new techniques, the Amiga proved a very useful tool which still can be heard in many connections today." "ZX81, ZX Spectrum, ZX Spectrum+, Schneider Spectrum 128, Amiga 500, Amiga 1200. All of them are now Used 2 Death except the 1200. I sold it, and bought a..........damned." "Well, I've always made music, also on & for other things than the computer. It sort of felt naturally, the other dudes i knew at that time that could operate a computer was all non-musicrelated, they were gr8 at programming and gfx design, but did'nt have the ear for music. So I hooked onto the guys and we formed our first group." "Pro Tracker is the one I've used in nearly all compositions on computer. when i converted 2 PC *sniff* Fast Tracker 2 was my choice, because it had gr8 compatility with older mods, and some interresting 16bit features. In general, the trackers gave a new systematic view on composing and grain acqurate editing, which made composing take a new turn. Nearly all '90s popmusic are influenced and subgenres of computermusic." "I don't feel I have reached my goal yet, but the peak where all things changed was when I was in Crionics, and we won the 2. place in the Demo-comp. That was on the Dexion Party in Odense/DK in '89. After that I realised that if I should make a living by making music, a completely different set of rules was to be applied." ""BierstubenTanz" are and is one of the sillyest tunes i've ever made, sadly enough many people used it as a partysong, even our local Highschool talked me into editing it to be the commercial for their prom-party. And as stupid as can be, I agreed, and made an edit, which people still talk about today." "U can't enjoy a game/demo without music, cauz' then there's nothing to build up the atmosphere/tenseness surrounding the game/demo, and then people loses interrest. It would be quite hollow." "Yep, I do compose. In nearly all kind of ways, for every purpose. I've managed to net-release 4 albums so far, but it's lacking with assignments for games, movies & that sort of thing." "Let's start with Midi, if i could choose one advice to give you..... Don't release midi-pieces. They are totally limited by the listeners computer, and many people doesnt bother/cant afford expensive soundcards & midimodules. Mods of all kind still work gr8 where coders need the extra memory for other purposes. I think in the mp3 format is one of the gr8est things on the computer today, because it gives the musician total freedom, with minimum loss of quality and dynamics. I'm right now working on an album thats supposed to be in DVD-Audio=(Wave@96Khz/24bit), which is THE new format, when u talk sound. It gives better dynamics than an expensive recordplayer + more channels." "Thats easy, the best mods I've ever heard, comes from the 2 disc music demo from Jogier Liljedahl (my deepest respects). It was incredible complette and not one tune was bad on those discs an example is "guitar slinger". The best liveband tunes must be Zappa or Dylan, Zappa's "Joe's Garage" album is properbly one of my all time favourites." "I've just found a whole bunch of old mods, so yes that very possible." "My god, evrything but deathmetal & thunderdome. But right now I'm mostly into Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa, Mahavishnu, Keith Emerson, The Orb, Jimmy Smith, ' Jack Mcduff, FSOL, Pink Floyd, Procol Harum, Ben Harper, Rick Wakeman, Tom Waits, Booker T. & Gong. But it changes alot, I'm quite a versatile listener." "Friends and Experience. A feeling of belonging somewhere !! (a knowledge beyond imagination:)" "Yeah, but not very much on the computermusic, I do small stuff for the Rave4ce guys, We've all so much older now, so the activity level has dropped 2 a for fun level." "Greetings must goto all the old guys from the scene, especially Pride, Drusil, Pike, Felix, Sonet, Mental, Brandon, Spy, Deftronic, Jesper Kyd, Anal, Mental, Codex, Pennywise, Artphase, Cytron & of course Crown/CrB (u guys do a hell of a job, my deepest respects) + all I've forgotten. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2001 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
