Amazing (it was...)! So i began to dream about bouing such sophisticated, beeping machine :) But You know, in those days in Poland computers was very expensive. And hard to get. So i thought about something cheaper, like ZX-81... of course i spend much time in computers clubs working on Timex, Amstrad, finally i have seen some round machine connected to big, coulour TV, which no one has working on... So i decided to try. Strange expirience, if you lerarn BASIC on Amstrad or Speccy. I remember that when i tried well know commands like border, paper... Commodore said - ?Syntax Error. So i get handbook, and spend a night learning how to use Commodore 64. Next day i heard ho SID sound... well, i was really impressed, and then i know which machine i want to buy. My firs machine was C-64 with datasette recorder (new SID). Just after buing C-64 i changed mainboard (couse i like Old SID). Some years later i bought Amiga 500 (well well.. first thing i ever seen on my Amiga was a Cryptoburners 3D demo :), and now i have about 20 machines in my room. Maybe i forgot something but there is a list: 3x C-64, Sam Coupe, Elwro 800 Junior (polish Spectrum cloone), Atari 800 XL (with HD), Acorn Electron, Acorn Micro, Atari Falcon, Atari 1040STE, Atari Jaguar, 2x CD-32, Amiga 500, Amiga 600, Amiga 1000, Amiga 3000, Amiga 1200 (with PPC), Amiga 4000, NeXT Turbo Station Color.... & maybe i forgot something. Mainy i am using A4000T equiped with slow 040/25, Cybervision 3d and three sound boards (Toccata, oldest version of Delfina DSP and Sunrize AD516) and ... C-64. There isn no pc in my home.. but of course i am using pc in my work... First of all - i spend about 6 years learning to play piano, second: SID. So why should i draw or code something? I began working with music on Sound Monitor (C-64), then... SoundTracker, ProTracker, Stone Tracker, OctaMED, Digi Booster, THS and some others. Still I am trying to learn GBA Tracker, Symphonie... Now most time i spend using Cyber Tracker (C-64), Digi Booster Pro, THX Sound System and Jeskola Buzz Digital Composer. I dont know which one is the best. Buzz is most advanced for a synthezis, Digi Booster - ideal for sample based tunes... and CT & THX - for chiptunes. Never reached. Still trying. Many... they landed as "unvinished" on some covered with dust CD-R... You know, sometimes You can write music just in one day.. some songs need a months of work... some of them are bad at beginig. Real value of the muisc is to be as much atmospheric as demo or game. So... when You hear the music and remeber the demo that means music was good. Yes. In 1996 with my friend we published commericialy in Poland MC with electonic music. Record was called "Wladca Pierscieni" (in english: Lord of The Rings). Now i am working mostly for leisure purposes, couse i like making music... You can hear my recent songs at http://mp3.wp.pl/p/strefa/artysta/44.html in mp3 format. Well, mods have its own feeling, but why not to try another "dimension". MP3 with high bitrate (or wave, OGG, VQF) are good if You want to show Your tunes to people. You know, some of them dont want to know how to play all those exotic formats... MIDI is ok, if You work in special environment (i have keyboard conetcted to Amiga, Octamed and Roland SC-55), but not as a format like mp3, couse MIDI file sounds pretty bad on most sound boards... Last Ninja 1, 2 & 3 :) Many SIDS (i dont remeber names), Audiomonster mods, Melomaniac music and music from the game On Escapee. No - most of music is avaiable as mods on Aminet, other as mp3 on web. Who wanna hear it woulg grab and hear... Well mostly Paradise Lost & Depeche Mode. Reason to compose and many friends... and of course magic party atmosphere... Yes. I am trying to be on most polish parties. Like in TV-Quiz. So i would like to greet my girl-friend, Monika, who understand my strange hobbies (scene, many computers in home, making music all night to dawn...) all scene folks (keep the scene alive!) And averyone who understand thet in all those oldskool machines is something more than in most sophisticated, advanced pc... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2002 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
