I had to have one of those as well. Commodore vic-20 Mainly played around with games recorded on a c-cassette. also did some basic programming from listings from some basic tutorials. basic games... 64 Playing, programming basic. also got interested on those small programs they used to attach before the games started. they were called... can't remember. anyways they used to have good musics and colourfull graphics as far as i can remember. amiga 500 I did some musics and graphics for those crackintros they used to put before the games started. didn't play so much those games though. all work no play... the reason why I sold my amiga500 back in the 1990's. Macintosh LC475 Went to army when I bought the mac. when I came from the army I sold the it. never dd anything with it really... a costly thing. PC's Never got around to make it back to the scene to be there full time. some musics have been released though. the scene has developed too much for me to comprehed... moving on to commodore 64. I did both graphics and musics I mean. I felt like jack of all trades and master of non, i.e. I didn't know what I was best at. the musics were spread and used so I guess that's where some rare people remember me from. Music: I have an uncle who played in a band and we did a four track remix on a soundtracker (was it ST2.3?). that's when I realized that making music is fun! Graphics: I went to an artschool in my hometown which kind of made me feel I was a good graphician. :) At first I used soundtrackers moved on to noisetrackers and the final program I used was protracker1.1b. also did a toon on futurecomposer. I've always liked the chippy kind of sounds. It is a wonder why I didn't make more toons on the futurecomposer or never even tried the others, like delta. Mod.unknown.zax - it sounds good and it is a fairly small mod too. don't ask me to reason on that. Most of my toons were crap, so most of them. Creating an atmosphere. these days, or should I say nowadays as I am sooo old, the musics are ofcourse a part of the marketing strategies but let's not go there. Let's look at it this way. If a music is shite then the whole demo / game will suck. if a music is good then a demo / game can be atleast listened through. on the other hand games and demos are audiovisual, so the sound and the visual can't really pe separated. they have to be experienced as a whole. so... the value then would be that I like music and I can go without the visual of games and demos as long as the music is good, you see, I buy cd's aswell. the visual comes then from the surroundings of the reality I am experiencing so... doesn't make sense does it? :) Ok I give up. I am composing for leisure purposes and establishing a record company in leisure purposes as well. at the moment I have a downtempo project going on which will release an EP soon (today the date is 24.06.03). I have played in couple of bands, which didn't quite work out. still composing chipmodules atmost once per year, so I guess I am active scener even these days. I think music will be a thing for me in the future too. Just formats. most of them are not as compact as mod. or any other modules, but the internet technologies are getting faster and faster as we speak. maybe the new mobile technologies should wake to a call from the scene and take those good old 8bit modules into use, that way I could do some funky shit with my phone. i think general midi would be good if the sounds wouldn't suck so much. Anyways a good song has a good idea behind it so what ever the format it's the ideas that count (wish I had one). From the scene? -I have been listening to the toon from silents' end of maloy made by jesper kyd. I really like that song! I like songs from bruno, 4mat, marillion, blazer and codex. those were the biggest for me. I won't stick to the past. as I said earlier most of my toons were crap so I don't want to start remastering those. Last records I have bought are: TOSCA - upbeat downtempo rjd2 - soul'ish breakbeaty with a hint of hiphop massive attack Perhaps one could say I have gone slow but I guess this is music for this summer. Maybe next year it will be that, oh so cool!, german schlager. :) I guess it has built my identity towards the way I am now. I propably wouldn't be in so close relations with music or arts if I hadn't gone through the worst and the best things provided by the scene. I have also some good friends which have derived from the time I spent with my computer. too bad that the internet came along. the networks that swappers had amongst themselves are gone forever. this internet seems so artificial and unpersonal. Well... scene has made me great, still I know that I would be great without the scene as well, only in a different manner. :) Once per year. Maybe more often when I get the music programs for my c64. So role here I come - just wait and see! greetings go to: JOL005X, the whole of Punishers, Caddy / used to be in defjam later in oracle, X-Ray of gate norway, the whole of Damones and Role, Hollywood that good old chap from england... oh and 911! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2003 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
