Date of birth: 17/05/73 My interest began in 1981 when first introduced to the ZX81 - though I never actually owned one. 1983 ZX Spectrum 48K - with rubber keyboard! - As well as playing games I also experimented with BASIC, and did some drawings... 1987 ZX Spectrum 128K +2 - Same as what I did with the 48K. But the AY music always interested me, though I never tried to compose any. 1989 Amiga A500 - Did loads with this! Who didn't!?! 1992 Amiga A1200 - I'm still using this machine to date! My *favourite* development tool. 1993 Amiga CD32 - Not sure why I bought this. Still, it woke up the Amiga's games industries to producing CD-ROM games! Actually, I do more gfx than I do music. But let's face it, when the Amiga was first released it's sound capabilities where way ahead of the competition, as were it's gfx and OS capabities. I hope the next-gen Amiga has the same impact when it's released. I've experiement with Soundtracker, Noisetracker and the clones, oh and Sonix too. But when MED was first released I became a instant fan - after that I never resorted back to the Tracker clones. SoundStudio is an excellent piece of software - I hope they continue to develop it. I don't think I've ever done a module that I'd feel that good about! ;-) Yeah, there is. But *fortunately* it was never made public domain! ;-P I think it's vital for a game/demo to have decent sonics. I class that as a seal of quality! No, I'm not composing - in the past it was always for leisure purposes. I welcome all new formats of music - as long as they are supported by the Amiga. Oh, there are loads of tunes that I could class as that, but I'll keep the list simple. On the 48K Spectrum, the beep generated music: Trantor - The Last Stormtrooper (????). Wow that tune really impressed me back then! Terra Cresta (Galway). Another classic tune. On the 128K Spectrum, AY generated music: Typhoon (J. Dunn). Short but excellent! RoboCop (J. Dunn). Excellent oriental style tune. On the Amiga. Ghouls 'n' Ghosts (T. Follin). Totally original style of music. Alien Breed (A. Brimble). A classic Amiga anthem. Also, I'd class anything written by Tim Follin as a classic - he's a genius. No, I've no plans. Well, I like all music, so anything from Michael Jackson to Metallica!!! I was never into the C64 - though I do keep up to date with the HV Sid collection. Ever since seing the Red Sector Megademo I've been an avid fan of the Amiga demo scene. Active? I was never active in the first place! ;-) Yeah, hello to Nutz, UVI and JiF - all of whom turned to the Dark Side and bought a PC! ;-P Hello to BuZz - owner of a site as devoted to the Amiga as AmiNet is - "Exotica"! Hello to SolKnight & Beej. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2001 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
