  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • It was a hot summerday in 1985 when I got my first computer, Commodore 64.
    I used it for gameplaying.

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • My first game on Commodore 64 was 'Talladega' and it took me a day or two to
figure out how to load it :) Well... years passed and I spent much of time
for copying games and playing them. I also programmed some junk with basic.
I had always been very impressed of those crackintros with their colorful
rasters and smoothscrollers. Many times those crackintros were even much
prettier than the cracked game itself, I think. So I got interested in
    the scene.

In 1990 I finally bought Amiga 500, mostly because one friend of mine had
been influencing me for a year to do that (respects to Dragon/Vision-X).
That was amazing time - Amigascene was growing like a hell and whole fuckin'
gameindustry was focused on Amiga. So in 1991 I joined a group and started
swapping and composing music. In 1994 I bought Amiga 1200 and updated it in
1998 with tower, 68060, more ram etc. and in 1999 I got PC.

Couple years ago I bought C128D, mainly for watching those new incredible
    C64 demos.

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Because I love music :) I've also done some gfx during the years, but
    nothing
so special. Hmm... and I've never been too intelligent in maths (if we talk
about coding) and stuff like that, so maybe music making suited me best.

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • My first composing software was Soundtracker and after that I moved to use
Protracker. I think that Protracker 2.3 is the very best tracker ever made.
    Fasttracker 2 is... nice :)

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • Hard to say.

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For What reason?

  • Maybe those oldest tunes I composed in early 90's. They are just sooo jerky.

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • A huge. You can just try out to watch a demo or play a game without music
and you know what I mean - music just gives that special atmosphere.
Music is at least 50% :)

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • Yes. I'm not very active, but still composing for fun always when I get that
    creative mood on :)

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • Hmm... I think that the point is that it doesn't depend on what format music
has done if it's good and rockin'. Some old farts like me surely miss the
early years of homemicrocomputers, but technological development just has to
    go on.

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Well... I especially respect those real veterans of tracker-music.
I mean those guys like Dr. Awesome, Fleshbrain, Romeo Knight, Uncle Tom,
S.L.L and Static. But not to forget guys like: Audiomonster, Bruno, Dizzy,
Heatbeat, Mr. Man, Strobo, Dean and many many others...

    Some unforgetable mod-classics:

Blue Stars by Time Traveller & Blackstar
    Consummation by Danko
Madness Took Me by Uncle Tom (brilliant!)
Astrogate by Jugi (I like the atmosphere very much)

Many different tracker-formats has appeared during the years, but more
channels or / and a better sound quality gives no more talents after all,
I think. I'm still impressed how good some old mods sounds even today.

And if we talk about scenemusic-history, I have to say that Jester got
respect more than he _ever_ deserved, eg. #1 in the charts - his tunes were
surely good, but not that good.

note: all comments here are my own opinions, so feel free to disagree :)

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • I haven't done anything so special that would be worth of remastering.

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • Chemical Brothers, FSOL, Faithless, The Orb, Daft Punk, Pink Floyd,
The Doors, Infected Mushroom, The Prodigy, Moby, Yello, Vangelis, Orbital.
And some Finnish stuff like: Pelle Miljoona, Neljä Ruusua, Kolmas Nainen,
    Eppu Normaali, 22-Pistepirkko.

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Friends and fun!

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • Well... I still compose music, watch the latest demos, read some scene-news
so maybe I could call myself as a scener :) My first personal musicdisk will
be released some day. Actually it has been under process for about 4 years
    :)
    Let's wait and see...

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • The best demos has already been made in the 80's and 90's.

Warm greetings to all old scene-friends and contacts.

    Fuck off Bill Gates.
