It was in 1986 or so. First C128, later PCs. The Commodore was mostly for playing games and listening to game musics. Thereafter, programming and composing have become more dominant (on PC). Actually music has not been my main thing but coding. The reason why I started doing music was probably the inspiration I got from listening to game tunes on C128 and modules on PC. I started with FastTracker 2. When Windows came in and made FT2 not work, I moved on to MadTracker. Nowadays, I use mostly GoatTracker for making SIDs. None :). I like my tunes but they have flaws. My goal is to be perfect. No. Whatever I have produced, I feel good about. Every tune - even the unfinished ones - have something characteristic that makes their existence worthwhile. Crucial but still only supporting. The music is not the main thing you go play a game or a demo. But without music, they would be a lot worse. Currently my composing focuses on SID music just for my own fun. MP3 and such give more possibilities for a musician. But much of the possibilities relate only to the technical quality of the music. What is the most important in music is the melodies and the rhythm. And the possibilities for different melodies and rhythms are more or less the same with MP3 as they are with SID on Commodore 64 or tracker modules on Amiga. So it's not said that hifi sound would be needed for good music. A few square waves should be enough for anyone. There are many... Lots of SIDs and lots of Amiga modules. Nope. There are not any specific bands, just good music. SIDs and MODs included. Good memories. Good music. Never really been. Hellox to Exorcist for introducing me to music. And more or less all musicians for making music. There is no bad music, just wrong audiences. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2002 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
