After the computer was given away, I moaned about how neat it would be to get a new one, and in 1995 my parents bought one, and I really began to find out more about computers. Machines? If you mean computers, I had that 386 computer, and then the 120mhz Pentium-computer. Mostly gaming and later composing. Well, I really can't draw :) Didn't know much about music either when I started, but it just sounded so neat that you could make music with your computer, and as a friend of mine showed me a tracking program, I was blown away. I only use Fast Tracker 2. Well, I don't think I've reached my goals yet, but I think that usually the one you're happiest with is the last one. I really aren't so satisfied the sound quality of my songs, because I really don't haven't had the possibilities to edit my songs or samples the way I might have wanted to. But at the moment, maybe "Shatter" is my favourite, because it combines different styles neatly, and sounds pretty much like what I wanted it to sound like. All the tunes that have note errors or bad tuning. That would be virtually all of my songs from the first three years, some of them maybe still available somewhere. It's very important. I think that if a game has bad music, it's the same as if the graphics are poor. It is a big part of the impression that you get while playing the game. If the music starts to annoy you, the game or demo gets annoying too. I'm still composing, for leisure at the moment, but ofcourse I take all chances I can get, and as I have been thinking to move to mp3's and get my music sound more professional, maybe I might even try to send them somewhere or something like that. Well, mp3's are good, because the compression method it uses saves a whole lot of space. Midi I haven't been so keen on, haven't really tried or listened to them. But I really haven't had a chance to get familiar with other formats, I've been so crazed about modules all the time :) If talking about "real" music, there are plenty ofcourse, depending at the moment. To mention two really good songs that come in mind, there are RMB's "Spring" and Moby's "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?". If talking about tracked music, D-Tracker's "Mountains Of Norway", Nighthawk's "Last Sunset" and Karsten Koch's "Leaving All Behind" come in to mind. But it's really hard to choose when there's so much good stuff. Yes, definetly. I listen to a lot of different styles of music. Some Finnish bands like Apulanta and Absoluuttinen Nollapiste are my favourites, and from other countries current favourites are Astral Projection, Moby, Linkin Park, Infected Mushroom and Well, I was a bit late from that, but atleast it gave me a lot of great music :) Yep, I take a part in different kind of compos and try to spread my songs around different scene archives. Maybe if I get a grab of myself again, I could even start reviewing again ;) Well, I'd like to greet everyone who has commented my music in some way, and everyone who I have chatted with. Certain persons in scene that come into my mind are Pete Cacmac, Novus, Komsip, T-Tracker, Roncli, Notion, The Junk(KLM), Nemfasis, Dr.Morpheus and Mansooj who all are worth special greets. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2002 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
