It must've been back in 1987 or something like that. My brother had an Sinclair Spectrum before the A500, but I did never really get interested in that machine. I've had two A500s, two A1200as (030 and 060) and a PC ... I've always made music with them. That's been my biggest interrest. I've always liked watching demos and other sceneproductions too, but that's quite obvious for a scener, isn't it? :) I guess it's natural reason, that's the thing I'm personally best on :). Ofcourse I've been interested in both grafix and coding, but never that much that I really wanted to learn how to do it well. >From the beginning of my music-"career", I started to play with different drummachineprograms, and actually some musicprogram called Sonic (or something). After a while I discovered trackerprograms though, much thanx to my brother. It was Soundtracker that was tortured back then. Nowadays I still use my Amiga for Protracker and Digibooster Pro, but I also have a PC which I mostly use a trackerprogram called "Madtracker 2" on. On the PC I try to get a bit more proffesional sound, while I use my Amiga for our beloved demoscene. I've never reached my goal. Hmm, I made a couple of embaressing tunes back in 1995-1996 when I made my first public songs. Something called "mod.gabbervision" and "mod.Harder than ever" for example ;). I think it has a great value, as much of the atmosphere in the demos and games has it's root in the music. A bad demo is bad very often because of the music. But I also think that it's very wrong to say that it's only depending on the music. I've heard a couple of persons trying to explain a demo by compare it with a musicvideo. The difference is really big, as the video in the musicvideo is made for the music, and not like in a demo which all four components of Code, Music, Graphix and Design are equal important. Yes, I'm still composing, both for the scene and for fun. I've not turned proffesional, and I doubt that I ever will. But we'll see about that in the future.. I think that MP3 is a quite good way for composers to be as free as possible when they're making music. The question is still though if it's really what we're trying to reach in a demo? I dunno, but I think that PC-scene sucks because of it's small limits in it's hardware. On the modulescene I have many favourites, but I think the best favourites are those who was composed by known and unknown sceners in my own childhood (back in 1987-1992). I don't want to mention any special modules as there are a lot of good stuffs made (and a lot of crap =)). Not in the nearest future at least. Much electronic music (which I've always listened to), like Depeche Mode (ofcourse), Kraftwerk, De/Vision, S.P.O.C.K, Pluxus, Apoptygma Berzerk, The Mobile Homes, VNV Nation, Antiloop, Astral Projection, NASA, Icon Of Coil, Sista Mannen På Jorden and PAGE for example. But I also like other artists like Björk, Thomas Dileva (a swedish artist), Madonna (Ray of light), Kent, The April Tears, The Ark, Elephant, Pet Shop Boys and so on. A lot of fun, friendship and a lot of creativity. I think it still gives me this, but not as much as past years, I'm afraid. Yes, mainly the Amigascene, but also a bit on the Atariscene. I want to greet every nice person out there in the world :), including all nice and friendly sceners. I also want to welcome the few new sceners that still joins the scene. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2001 by crown of cryptoburners ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
