  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • I saw a ZX81 at around 1981-1982; other than playing Ghostbuster I didn't
    get hooked that badly.

It wasn't until the summer of 1986 when I saw the C64 which had colours
and could easily be programmed that I caught on to it. So I started
working as a paperboy to save the bucks for it, and after lugging
countless newspapers from 4:30am every morning, I bought my first C64 on
December the 2nd 1986 at 16:20 (yep, that's how much of an impression
that event had on me :)

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • Well, I had my trustworthy C64 for about three months, then I changed it
to a C128. Up until I got my Amiga in September 1988 that's what I had,
    and I solely coded.

When I had my Amiga I started fiddling a bit with music and graphics as it
was quite a bit more rewarding on the Amiga than it was on the C64,
    compared to the time used.

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Well, I actually ended up coding but did a bit of gfx and music now and
then. Nothing big in neither of those two areas though.

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • In the beginning I used Aegis Sonix, but switched to Protracker when it
    entered the stage.

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • B.A.D. Megademo 0.5 loader tune. The megademo needed a tune. I
    accomplished making one ;o)

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • Well, it's not one I have made, but the tune for the B.A.D. demo Axes
High. It's a demo I finished two days after my father's funeral and, well,
    bad memories and such..

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • It is Key(tm). A demo (or game) with the just right music can gain so much
from it. For the old-schoolers out there; imagine Hardwired with a
hard-beating death-pumping bass techno tune put over it - or an Amiga
version of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons. It absolutely will not be the same.
Or for the Xbox Halo fanatics fans (like me) out there; imagine the
hardest battle scenes with a light, joyful tune playing in the background.
When using the computer, you only use two senses; the aural sense is at
least 50% of it, so yes, music can contribute a LOT to a demo or game.

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • I'm actually retired from all demo works now, just doing system
administration and a bit of application programming for a living.

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • They are pretty much all good, but it is much different from what we used
to have on the C64 and Amiga. With WAV, MP3 etc., musicians just have to
concentrate on the art of making music itself; with formats like SID tunes
or MOD tunes, the composers had to 'interface' with technology and meet
certain requirements set either by the technology itself or the constrains
of annoying coders (like me) who insisted there would be space for no more
    than 50Kbytes of music.

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Well, To Be On Top title tune by Chris Hülsbeck, Daisy Chain 2 by
Cryptoburners, the first tune in Pimplesqueezer 5 (I haven't got the title
of it - anyone?), the tune in Mental Hangover, Ocean Loader, Auf
Wiedersehen Monty, Teknosjock by T.U.S.C. (hej Jesper).. Heck, there are
so many I want to list, but I think I'd better stop here before it gets
    out of hand ;o)

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • I think the World would be a better place without it ;o)

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • Oh, that's gonna be quite a list :)
    But, let's see.. Whatever's being voted for on Nectarine Radio; Opeth;
Eminem; Tool; Jean Michel Jarre; Bloodhound Gang; Korn; Linkin Park; Karen
Matheson - and a whole lot of others. Pretty much a good mix of several
genres I'd say; just don't care too much for the MTV mainstream music.

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • My life as I know it :o)

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • Unfortunately, no.

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • Well, I'll give my warmest thoughts to the ones that matters; Daniel (even
though he won't read this for a few years to come), Henrik, Peter, Daniela.
Know that you are in my thoughts and in my heart.

A big hi to all my former ex-scene buddies and group members; you know who
you are and who I am.

And of course to all former and current scene members and Commodore
engineers for making all of this a reality :)
