  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • It all started when my oldest brother, Markus, got his first C-64, which
was in the early 80ies, when I was just 4 years old.

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • I myself got a C-64 when I was aged 12/13. After playing lots of games
(which my brothers had collected), I decided looking into assembler
programming. Actually, I'm still fascinated by what one can do with a
C-64, a machine with so little memory, LOL.

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Hmmm, mostly because I play the piano and I always have been a loser at
drawing paintings, etc. And, at the time, albeit I have coded some little
programs, I've been lacking the long lasting enthusiasm needed to do "real
    coding".

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • On the C-64 I've used Soundmonitor and Rockmonitor as well as Romuzak. On
the Amiga Protracker was my favorite. It's simple interface and approach
with fixed patterns made it very easy to get some first results within
    minutes.

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • None ~grins~.

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • I haven't "composed" (or transscribed) that many, so again: none.

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • Without it, most demos and games would be dull and, quite frankly,
unbearable. Music allows the demo/game to inspire an emotional reaction,
which only total coding geeks would get out of it without the music.

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • I wouldn't call it composing, but improvising; as I said, I play the piano
and I can totally forget about the time while I play :)

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • Hmmm, these "categories" to me mean different technologies, and in a way
they don't differ that much from C-64 "SID files" or Amiga modules, as
long as they are "listened to". Of course, many nowadays music formats
don't give the opportunity to play around with them as much as you could
with a MOD on the Amiga, e.g. by simply replacing the samples to get a new
    sound...

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • On the C-64, many Hubbard, Galway or Jeroen Tel SIDs would qualify; on the
Amiga, I'm totally fascinated by the MODs composed my Di33y/CNCD. His
style hasn't been copied and it really is pretty unique, IMO.

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • I've already done that several times. So, yes, I'll certainly make another
    one soon.

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • My taste in music is pretty wide ranged. On my USB stick/MP3 player, I've
got approx. 200 pieces of various artists, including Gospels, Jazz, and
classic music just as well as pop music, of course. As bands/artists, I
would name U2, Genesis, Peter Gabriel and Madonna.

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • A lot of fun in the first place, but then it also was and is the basis of
my interest in computers generally. And since I work in the IT industry
today, it helped me to develop "an eye" for what will work and for what
    doesn't.

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • Not in the scene; I never was, actually. I have donated to some sites on
the net, just as I've registered several "scene related" programs, such as
    DeliPlayer for Windows...

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • My brothers and some special friends: Anne Kirchberg and
    John Losee.
