I guess computers sort of run in the family, my father used to have lots of computers too. My brother was the one that introduced the scene-related stuff to me around the same time. I hate to admit that I've mostly been a PC guy, and what's worse, I've even been an Atari ST user for quite some time :) Nowadays I'm primarily a Mac user. I've never been very good at drawing, and my coding skills are rudimentary to say the least. Music is more or less instant gratification, you get nice results quickly. As I said earlier, I've mostly been a PC guy, so on the tracking side I've been using Scream Tracker 2 and 3, Fasttracker 1 and 2, and most recently Impulse Tracker 2 (what can I say, I like the interface!). I've done some (very little) work with Soundtracker on Linux too. For 'serious' composing, up until recently I used Jeskola Buzz, which is a nice program to use, but *awfully* buggy. Now I use Ableton Live on the Mac. The instant gratification aspect again - it's so easy! :) The one that I never released. Obviously most of my really old ones! It's *huge*. Quite often if I don't like the music in a demo or a game, I don't like the entire product either. That sort of means that I don't really like a lot of (recent) demos. Well, err, there's been some talking.. But uh, yeah, leisure mostly. What's there to think about? Logical progression, I suppose... Modules or 'real' tunes? :) To be on the safe side, here are my (current!) favorites in both categories: Module: Lots of Karl Lihagen's rohformat releases. Falcon's modules.. wonderful! An old XM netlabel by the name of Tetris used to have lots of good shit.. Most Virta releases.. *just* the kind of techno I prefer! No. Oval, Phylyps, Various Artists (the artist:), Bobby Orlando, Patrick Cowley, Pan Sonic, DJ Di'jital, Sole Tech, Seymour Bits, Erotek, Maurizio, DAF, Dexter, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Denki Groove, Sparks, Navicon Torture Technologies, etc, etc, etc, etc.... Lots of great stuff to both listen to and look at! Yeah, I do music for RNO. Greets to all my friends I suppose, and uh, I suppose I'm expected to say "BASS" but instead I'll say: Plagiarism is a necessity, progress demands it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- please note: this interview is ©opyrighted in 2006 by crown of cryptoburners |
