  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • Dont really know, I got a ZX81 in about 82 i think?

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • ZX81 - copied code from books, generally messed about with it as a 9 - 10 year old would.
ZX Spectrum 48K - mainly gaming, very basic coding stuff.
C64 - mainly gaming (fond memories).
Amiga 500 - gaming, modding music, watching demos.
PCs from 8088s to i7s (now) - all modern uses!
Macbook Pro (now) - all modern uses!

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Couldn't draw, couldn't code.. could bearly write music :) maybe my love of c64 music (rob hubbard etc) and interest of clubbing/raving at the time!

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • I used Protracker with my trusty Roland D50 (and my poor quality sampler)

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • ermmm.. didn't really have a goal, just did it for a laugh. I couldn't dream of competing with the brilliant musicians out there at the time. I just liked certain music at the time (acid house, techno, jungle etc) and just had a go at it, why not!!

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • All of them! lol, nah not really bothered about it all, I do deeply regret my handle now, when I picked it I was a young and naive to the true devastating meaning of the word, yes I'm an IDIOT.

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • Just as important as the code and gfx, brings the demo to life and often helps with the story/theme of the demo

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • Have / had no music training at all, cant play anything, cant read music etc! (yes I know it showed ;) ) so gave it all up in about 1994 with the amiga! (best computer ever!). I work in the conference / exhibition world now.

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • Good technical advancements obviously, some of the music on modern PC demos is most impressive. I've seen cubase and logic, thats about it!

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Can I just list a very small number of the many amiga demos there was that I can seem to remember liking the music on.. (sorry no crediting)
    9 Fingers
    3D Demo II
Jesus on Es (a classic, we were at the Digital Symposium '92 when it was released, 30 mins of quality, also very nice people I seem to remember)
    Desert Dream
    Nexus 7
    Global Trash
    Budbrain
    Arte

A few modern PC demos with nice music (easier to remember)
    Ninja in a Box
    I feel like a computer
    Planet Risk
    Iconoclast
    Aliens Ate My Demomaker
    195 95
    Animal Attraction
    Deities (an unbelievable tune!!)
    Lifeforce
    Stargazer
    Masagin

oh and dont forget... monty on the run, sanxion, ace II.. plus countless other c64 classics! I love the SID chip, Rob Hubbard you are a genius!

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • No, I'm only here coz someone gave me an amiga 1200 recently and I still had my old mod disks, and couldnt believe someone bothered to rip my music onto here. So I thought i'd upload a few more for a laugh. (after using an old serial cable to transfer them)

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • All GOOD! music, from house to reagge to classical to rock to whatever.. enjoying some nice roots reagge at the moment.

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • Friends, some very nice memories of scene parties, meeting new people, getting disks in the post etc.

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • No, I would be more talentless (in the grand scheme of things) in the modern scene.

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • Anyone I met in the scene!

The amiga scene was the coolest computer movement of all time, will never be repeated. (although there has been some amazing PC demos in the last 10 years, shame its more or less dead now)

Trying to remember what the hell was going on in my head when I wrote this lot between 1991 - 1994??! 20 years ago!! Its making me feel old too, seems like a different life...
